Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy has taken an important step towards joining the European educational space and enables its graduates to become the competitive, recognized specialists all over the world. UMSA is the oldest medical university in Ukraine which was inaugurated in 1921 as odontology department of Kharkiv Medical Academy. The Academy celebrated its jubilee – the 90th anniversary of the Academy founding in 2011.
The scientific potential of UMSA comprises 90 Doctors, 367 Candidates of sciences, 81 Professor, 196 Associate professors, 2 Laureates of State prize of Ukraine, 5 Honored workers of science and technology of Ukraine, 4 Honored physicians of Ukraine, 1 Honored rationalize. The Academy has trained 28 700 dentists, 12 000 doctors of other specialities, about 1 600 specialists of nursing staff.
The structure of the Academy embraces 53 departments, nine of them are the supporting ones. Clinical and consulting work is performed at 39 clinical departments of the Academy, located at the best regional and municipal hospitals of Poltava. There are Stomatological Faculty, Medical Faculty №1, Medical Faculty №2 (Pediatrics), Faculty for Foreign Students Training, Department of Pre-University Training and Faculty of Postgraduate Education.
The Faculty for Foreign Students Training started its activity in 1992 and trains foreigners from 46 countries (Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Pakistan, Libya, Russia, Turkmenistan and others). After graduation, foreign students obtain diplomas of international standard which recognized in any country of the world.
